room of the month: january

Many of our Sisi Sisters have amazing interior design aesthetics so we decided to create a “Room of the Month” post, showcasing their talents. Our hope is their tips and tricks will spark inspiration for any projects you might tackle big or small.

Our first feature space is Kristi’s kitchen. To give some background, Kristi is a construction designer, creating warm and beautiful spaces for new homes, AND she’s been one of my dear friends since 5th grade. I’m 54 now so…. do the math!  It’s been awhile. Haha!

Kristi and her husband Rick built their home eight years ago on the cusp of a design world shift from warm tones and stained finishes to variations of whites and neutrals. Since design was in the midst of a transition, Kristi’s focus was for the space to remain timeless with lots of prep space for cooking and entertaining. She went with a soft neutral on the kitchen cabinets as well as her interior walls. Plus, her love for black and white is obvious from the black island with the white Calcutta Gold marble countertops.

Since the construction of their home, the interior design world has made more shifts, from mid century modern and urban farmhouse to vintage comebacks. But what Kristi loves about her kitchen is she stayed true to herself with the space remaining classic and timeless.
