2021 interiors: it’s all about blue sky thinking

We love the idea of keeping our Sisi Sisters in the know. So….here we go! 2021 interior design is all about blue sky thinking--upbeat, bold, and cheerful. And after last year, I say, “Amen!” With that in mind, it appears that the who’s who of interior design has blessed bold blue as a dominant color for 2021.

Glidden has crowned Aqua Fiesta

Farrow and Ball are loving Ultra Marine Blue,

And Benjamin Moore is heralding Aegean Teal

The take away… there is nothing bashful about these blues. But let’s get real, none of us are going to remodel our homes based on 2021 blues. But…there are some fun ways to integrate these bold colors into your home.

Idea 1

Paint an accent wall or your doors.

My house is predominately white; however, I painted all my doors a charcoal gray and my cabinets a navy blue. FYI… this is the most time extensive idea on the list.

Idea 2

Add blue pillows or a throw.

Mix and match patterned pillows for a burst of color. Plus you can add a few solid pieces to soften the overall look.

Idea 3

Change out a lampshade.

This is one of my favorite ideas because it’s easy. Enough said!

Idea 4

Change out your planters.

Here’s the deal, we all need a few plants in our household. In fact, NBC news reported that indoor plants reduce stress levels and boost your mood. So if you’re going to have plants, why not add a pop of color to the planters.
