what changed my world

My great-grandmother passed away at 95. I feel so lucky because she gave me so much: resilience, persistence, stubbornness (it does come in handy), her pearls, and… big boobs. Ironically, the latter was NOT a gift. I’m a 30G and bra shopping is a thing; in fact, a very difficult thing. Now I know we all have our crosses to bear in the clothing department. My mom has issues with a big butt and one of my best friends struggles with pant lengths. But…my challenge goes a little beyond because my great-grandmother believed it was not lady-like to discuss breast size. So I never got the important question answered, “Where in the heck do I find a 30G bra?”

Now I’m so thankful times have changed, and we can openly discuss our issues and help each other out as a community. Yes, #womenhelpingwomen.

So for the ladies who have their bra straps pinch their shoulders, bands riding up on their back, or spillage out the front, you need to learn your actual bra size. I originally thought I was a 34DD by trial and error, but then I got properly measured. It was a life changer.  I went to a shop called Jenette’s Bras (In Los Angeles where I was living). Their tag line is “The alphabet starts at D.” Clearly these are my people!

My world was completely changed, but it came with a large price jump. These bras started at $160 and went up to $400. I bit the bullet and bought two of the cheaper ones in the $125-$175 range.

Through the years I’ve in no way found “cheap” bras, but I have found ones that are around $80-$100. Plus, my all time favorite t-shirt bra on Amazon that ranges between $35.68 - $77.63.
